Hello everyone! I’m Billy S. Piapa Cruz, 20 years old from the town “Where The Best Things Happens”, BAYAMBANG!!!. I am 2nd year college, taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics in Pangasinan State University.

THE 4C’S OF 21ST CENTURY SKILLS

Choosing a profession is quite simple, it includes ideas that you did not know yet. There are times that made you think of other profession that suits you. Some people choose any profession because of lacking choice to have the better one. But in contrast, some people think that what they have decided to choose, it will be their destiny. It serve as their mission in their chosen path. Having a profession is just like enduring life with hardships, you must have to move forward no matter how hard it is.

TOPIC: THE 4C’S OF 21ST CENTURY SKILLS

Before I discuss my topic, I prepared an activity called (PANT-S) “Place, Animals, Names, Things and the Scores”. The goal of this game is that the terms that they enter from different categories with respect to the given letters is not repeated or else, the point will take the half. The class participated attentively because its a traditional game for them, they play this type of game since elementary and high school days.

Discussion:

The 4C’s of 21st Century Skills is a type of skill that all learners should adapt. It is a compilation of skills, abilities and characteristics of a good learner and a citizen in the near future. When we first define 21st Century Skills, it refers to a broad set knowledge, skills, work habits, and character traits that are believed by educators, school reformer, college professors and etc. It is also called “Core Skills”.

There are three (3) types of skills under 21st Century Skills. First, is the Learning Skills in which it teaches students about mental processes required to adapt and improve upon a modern work environment. Then, the Literacy Skills that focuses on how students discern facts. Lastly, the Life Skills that talks bout intangible elements of a student’s everyday life wherein those intangibles focus on both personal and professional qualities.

But unfortunately, the 4C’s is under the Learning Skills. The four C’s are CRITICAL THINKING, CREATIVITY, COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION. The key terms of Critical Thinking is finding solutions to certain problems. While, in Creativity: Thinking outside the box or thinking beyond expectations. Then, in Communication: refers to conveying legit information through talking to others. Lastly, in Collaboration: talks about working well with others. We are now living in the 21st century age, so that the 4C’s of 21st Century Skills are important to new generation with respect to their future jobs in which they can apply the learned skills into their future
